Pathfinder is an app for students aged 16 and over. It looks for university courses, apprenticeships and college options that suit your child, tells them why each one fits, and keeps every date in view. It never applies for them.

It's looking while they're in lessons.

Your child tells Pathfinder what they're into, once. After that it keeps checking in the background, for new courses, apprenticeships and dates, and sends a notification when something fits, with the reason attached.

Both routes

University or apprenticeship? It shows both.

It doesn't push one route. A student set on UCAS still hears about a strong apprenticeship, and the other way round. Sometimes it's both at once: a degree apprenticeship, where they earn a wage and pay no tuition fees.

Plan B

There's always a plan B.

Every plan has a main choice, three Alternates and a wildcard, and they don't all have to be the same kind of thing: a degree, a college course and an apprenticeship can sit side by side. If a key date passes without the result they wanted, results day included, Pathfinder brings the Alternates forward and talks it through with them. Nothing changes until your child says so.

The boring stuff, before it bites.

Closing dates, open days and results day sit in one list, each marked confirmed, approaching, changed or needs checking. Your child gets a nudge before each one, including the nudge to ask a teacher for a reference while there's still time to ask.

You can see the plan. Not the chat.

With your child's agreement, you can link your own account to a read-only view of their plan: where it stands, and the dates coming up. You won't see their conversations with Pathfinder, and they can withdraw their agreement whenever they like.

What does it cost?

Nothing while we're in pilot.

Who can use it?

Students in the UK aged 16 or over. They sign up for themselves.

What does it know about my child?

What they choose to tell it, and what it needs to run their plan: their Google sign-in, their plan and dates, and their chats with Pathfinder. It can't see their email, calendar or Google Drive.

Is their data sold or used for adverts?

No. We don't sell it, license it or use it for advertising, and we don't use it for anything outside their plan.

Can they delete everything?

Yes. They can ask us to delete their data at any time, and we'll confirm when it's done. The detail is in the privacy notice and data rights pages.

Is it safe to let AI near this?

Pathfinder uses AI to find options and explain them. It runs on Pea, our own agent software, which fixes what it's allowed to do: it can suggest, explain and remind, but it can't apply, pay or send anything as your child.
